WHEN the tragic loss of a family member comes out of the blue, many would prefer to hide themselves away from the world.?And then there are those like the Butler family from Marhamchurch, who decided to stand up and make a difference — an almost £8,000 difference.

In October 2013, Neal and Sue Butler, along with daughters Charlie and Laurie-Mai, lost their eldest daughter and big sister Georgie to epilepsy.

Georgie also left behind her baby daughter Cali, who is now cared for by Neal and Sue.

Having battled with the condition all of her life, Georgie died of SUDEP — sudden unexpected death in epilepsy, aged just 20.

A few months later, on March 22, 2014, she would have been celebrating her 21st birthday and Charlie and Laurie-Mai came up with the idea that the family should commemorate her life and celebrate the day by holding a coffee and cake sale and in turn raising some money for the Epilepsy Society — the UK's leading provider of epilepsy services.

This is when the ball started rolling in this inspirational family's fundraising exploits.
