THE Mayor of Launceston, Cllr Paul O'Brien, joined visitors and residents at McCarthy & Stone's Manaton Court development on Dunheved Road last week at a special 'cheese and wine' party in support of Launceston Town Band.

Visitors were invited to go along to the development, sample of selection of local cheeses and wines and make a small donation towards the Mayor's chosen charity. The event was a huge success, raising £80 for the group.

Aileen King, sales and marketing director for McCarthy & Stone South West, said: "Launceston Town Band plays a really active role within the local community and we are delighted to be able to help in this way. It was a real privilege to be joined by Cllr Paul O'Brien, Mayor of Launceston, who is also a big supporter of the band."

Manaton Court is an intimate collection of 32 one and two bedroom retirement apartments situated in the town. The development comprises a communal residents' lounge with a large decking area overlooking the gardens, a guest suite, laundry room and a lift to all floors.
