After a busy year putting on fundraising events, completing risk assessment and booking bands and entertainment, Wadebridge carnival committee were not going to let a bit of rain stop carnival day.

A spokesperson said: “Considering the weather we had a fantastic turn out and we are so grateful for the Wadebridge community for supporting the carnival and braving the rain. We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout for carnival entrants and everyone that took part in the parade looked amazing and had worked so hard on their costumes and floats. There was an air of excitement and a real buzz around the town.

“It was so lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves and celebrating our town. It’s exactly what a carnival is all about.

“We are only a small Committee and hope we did Wadebridge proud. We couldn’t do it without the support from all the people who have given up their time to help in throughout the year and on carnival day, and we want to say a huge thank-you to each one of you — you know who you are!”

The committee are already planning next year’s carnival and welcome any new members to join. Anyone thinking about joining can email [email protected]

The spokesperson added: “See you all next year on August 20, 2024. Fingers crossed for sunshine next year!”
