MORE than £700 has been raised for a new play park in Launceston after a local woman organised a raffle, with more than 100 prizes donated.
Proceeds from the raffle, organised by Laura Smith, will go to the Lanstephan Area Play Park committee, which is trying to develop a piece of land off St Mary’s Road in that area to provide a play park for youngsters.
Laura, who has four children, moved to Lanstephan last August, and told the Post: “I heard people saying they were trying to raise money to build the play park. That was my drive to do it.
“I thought I would only raise £100. I didn’t think I would have the support I’ve had from residents and businesses. There were 107 prizes in total.”
A total of £774 was raised, to go towards the play park.
