THE members of Granville Masonic Lodge, Bude, accompanied by friends and family, got their Christmas celebrations off to an early start with their annual charity fundraising lunch on December 11.

Over 40 people attended the Masonic Hall, which had been decorated for the occasion, and enjoyed a traditional Christmas lunch with turkey and all the trimmings, followed by Christmas pudding.

Members of the lodge acted as waiters and the meal was accompanied by plenty of old favourite seasonal songs and music. A raffle raised a total of £160, which will go to support the Bude, Stratton and District branch of Cancer Research UK, and the Bude Food Bank. Volunteers at the food bank are currently working hard to raise funds following their move to new premises.

The master of Granville Lodge, Tony Davis, thanked everyone for attending and supporting the lunch, and in particular the lodge secretary Keith Taylor for organising another successful and enjoyable Masonic event. It was also pointed out that Masonic charitable work in general, and that by Granville Lodge in particular, supports a wide range of local and national charities. The master also wished everyone a happy Christmas and peaceful new year, and he looked forward to a positive 2018 for Cornish Freemasonry.
