FOUR members of Cornwall Blood Bikes came to the October meeting of Flowerpatch Quilters in the Central Methodist Hall, Launceston, to receive a cheque for £3,000.
The money was raised by Flowerpatch members at their 34th Annual Patchwork and Quilting Exhibition in August this year and from the raffle of a patchwork quilt made by them.
Cornwall Blood Bikes is a self funded charity delivering and collecting blood and pathology samples, breast milk and medication throughout Cornwall.
The charity was set up about ten years ago in the North of England and now nearly every county has a unit. All the volunteers are qualified advanced motorcyclists, and Cornwall has about 70 volunteers. None of these are funded by the NHS but rely solely on donations and the generosity of the community.
