MARHAMCHURCH Revel was held on Monday, August 13.
The revel is always held on the first Monday following August 12, the feast of St Marwenne.
According to ancient custom, the queen is crowned by ‘Father Time’ as a representative of St Marwenne, the Celtic saint who brought Christianity to the village in the sixth century.
The queen is elected by all the children of Marhamchurch Primary School.
Pictured left at the crowning ceremony held on the play field with ‘Father Time’ and this year’s Revel Queen Mia Luxton are Revel Marshall Sean Carpenter, Page Boys Matthew Grigg and Jack Westlake, Flower Girls Evie Mae Waterton, Nancy Carter, Maids Matilda Cox and Lowen Sachs.
After the crowning, Mia officially declared the revel open and everyone was invited to enjoy the entertainment on offer which included bric a brac, cake stall, barbecue, tombola, coconut shy, face painting and a bouncy castle.
Compere for the afternoon was Bill Kneebone.
An art exhibition was held on Monday as part of the revel celebrations in the church hall, where a number of local artists showcased their work.
