A NEW 'welcome' sign due to be installed at Holsworthy's park has been designed thanks to children from the primary school. Following the great success of the new play equipment area in Stanhope Park, Holsworthy Town Council teamed up with the town primary school and ran a competition for children to design a picture that could be for the park's all-important new sign. Chairman of the parks committee Cllr Ken Watson met headteacher Christiaan Stirling and Janet Keat at the school and launched the competition some weeks ago. Cllr Watson and the mayor, Cllr John Allen, judged more than 100 pictures, along with the school council and chose the top seven. Cllr Watson said: "The quality of the pictures was excellent and a real credit to the school and the children."
