HOLSWORTHY CE Primary School had an ‘Art Week’ recently and the school was visited by two artists, Andy Cairns and Sam Bonney.

Artist Andy Cairns worked with the Key Stage one class on a project called ‘Mexico meets Van Gough’ and Key Stage Two worked with artist Sam Bonney on ‘Sea Scape with fish’.

A spokesperson for the school said: “Once again, Holsworthy Primary School’s Art Week has been a great success.

“The talented children produced some amazing art work using a wide range of media.

“This year, the school was lucky to be supported by two local artists; Andy Cairns and Sam Bonney. Andy inspired the children by looking at the work of Van Gough but these were no ordinary Van Gough paintings as they cleverly combined their imagaes with Mexican style colours.

“In Key Stage 2, Sam Bonney and the children took their inspiration from the sea. The children used their vivid imaginations to design colourful fish, which were then added to a 3-D ocean made from recycled fabrics.”
