A NINE-year-old boy from South Petherwin CP School and his friends have made over 100 Christmas decorations with a difference, ensuring children in need across the world are given a special toy this festive season.
Harry recently featured on Channel 4’s popular television series LEGO Masters, which saw him and his friend Ollie, also a South Petherwin pupil, compete against other teams of twos to become the ultimate LEGO Masters.
Harry and Ollie went far in the series, but haven’t let their LEGO-building skills go to waste since leaving the competition, with Harry initiating a Christmas decoration-making session with a difference at the school’s recent Christmas fair.
As part of LEGO’s #BuildtoGive campaign, Harry gathered some friends and set up their own little table at the fayre, where they built over 100 Christmas decorations out of LEGO!
This festive season, LEGO is encouraging children — and adults alike — to get involved in their #BuildtoGive campaign by visiting a LEGO store or using your own LEGO blocks to build a Christmas ornament. Display it in-store or share it on social media using the #BuildtoGive hashtag, and for every ornament built and shared, LEGO will donate one of their sets to a child in need of play.
South Petherwin CP School headteacher, Theresa Mills, said: “LEGO have promised to donate a LEGO set to a child in need for every ornament built and shared on their website, so not only was it a fun thing to do, it also raised money. We have displayed the ornaments around the school so are looking very LEGO-festive.
“Harry made over 100 LEGO decorations at our Christmas fair and also made some with Tiny Tots nursery so nearly 200 is the current running total. We are so proud of him!”
