CAMELFORD held its annual ‘Pumpkins on Parade’ on Wednesday, October 30.

With more than 20 entries of spectacular pumpkins, there were lots more spooky activities for children and their parents to take part in, including a fancy dress competition, apple bobbing and ‘spooky story time’.

Mayor, Claire Hewlett, said: “This is a lovely event for our younger residents and we had a fantastic turn out this year for our carved pumpkin competition — well over 20 entries.

In addition to the pumpkin competition there was a fancy dress competition for children and adults — again, everyone had made a real effort and it was great.”

To keep everyone warm, there was hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows, spooky biscuits kindly provided by Kirsty Ferguson, plus traditional apple bobbing and spooky story time.

There were first, second and third prizes for the best carved pumpkin and a prize for the best adult and child fancy dress costume.

Cllr Hewlett continued: “I’d like to thank the staff, especially Bronwen, for their hard work in organising this event, and my fellow councillors for so enthusiastically getting into the spirit of the evening.

“Special thanks go to Camels Garden, Spar, Co-op and LeGrys Bespoke for supporting this event. Extra special thanks to our judge Vagas, who did a brilliant job, ably assisted by Bill LeGrys.”
