WALKING along Launceston's Dunheved Road is 'stomach-churning' because of the amount of dog mess on its pavements, says a nearby resident.

The resident, who did not wish to be named, said it was clear from 'the evidence' that the same dog fouled the length of Dunheved Road's pavement on a regular basis. The resident is urging the council to discover and fine the owner responsible for the dog.

He said: "I have emailed Cornwall Council on a regular basis — as I suspect many others have — but the problem has not been resolved.

"It is now stomach-churning to walk along Dunheved Road, and this road is used daily by pupils walking to the college. This is not acceptable, and we all know how dangerous dog faeces can be."

Another resident said the 'sheer ignorance' of dog owners who neglected to clean up after their pets wascosting people more than the inconvenience of a dirty shoe.

Cornwall Councillor for Launceston South Liberal Democrat Jade Farrington said it was 'extremely unfortunate' that so much taxpayers' money had to be spent cleaning up the mess because some dog owners were too lazy to do so themselves.
