motorists face further delays in the beleagured Newton Abbot area as a £3 million repair project on the Teign estuary viaduct gets under way.
Work starts early in June and is epected to last six months as highways workmen fix a failed joint on the 40-year-old bridge.
A speed restriction of 30mph will be imposed while the work – the fault was subject previously to temporary repairs – is carried out to ensure the long-term viability of the road.
A new waterproofing system is also being introduced and it is hoped to complete the work by late December.
