THE Port Isaac RNLI harvest festival auction, held for the second year running at The Old School Hotel in the village, proved to be a resounding success.

The event gained great support from locals and visitors alike, everyone coming together for a fun evening and taking the opportunity to enjoy the auctioneering action of Jon Cleave, of the Fisherman's Friends.

As in past years, great generosity had been shown by individuals and local businesses that had donated many items to bid for.

These ranged from a Wave Hunters coastal tour in their 30ft rib for 12 people to hampers overflowing with garden produce and home-made jams. There were also delicious cakes and a number of vouchers for meals at some local restaurants.

The lifeboat crew bid high for the harvest loaf, donated by Barnecutts — an art form in itself complete with field mouse sculpted into the crust.

Chairman Bob Bulgin reported that a figure of well over £2,000 was raised from the event.
