A 15th century church has been awarded a £10,000 grant — the only building in Cornwall to benefit from the national handout.
St Briochus in Lezant, is one of the UK's 45 most historic and community minded churches, which is benefitting from part of a £645,000 rescue package provided by the National Churches Trust.
The grant will help fund repairs to the church roof, including dealing with nail sickness, replacing slates plus some wallhead masonry work.
The community and members of Lezant congregation have been fundraising to carry out the work for a number of years.
The Rev Anne Brown, priest-in-charge of the Three Rivers Team — Lezant, Lewannick, Lawhitton, North Hill and South Petherwin — said the community had 'put a lot of hard work into over the years' and received support from Cornish Historic Churches Trust.
