THE final game of the winter season had arrived and the Jets were all too aware of how important this was with a win seeing them crowned Division Two and promoted to Division One.

The game started and it soon became apparent that the Jets were extremely nervous and although they played fairly well it took a while to settle down with the first quarter finishing 9-8 in favour of Woolacombe.

The second quarter was a different story with the Jets starting to show why they deserved to be champions by playing some superb netball. The defence of Kirsty Dawe, Beth Wilde and Carrie Short worked tirelessly to prevent Woolacombe from capitalizing on good possession and limited them to 4 goals whilst they converted their own chances at the other end to go in at half time 17-13 ahead.

Changes were then made by both sides but the Jets made the most of their strength in depth as the attack of Helen Newton, Sharon Box, Steph Dinshaw and Steph Cook extended the Jets lead to 9 goals by the end of the third quarter to 27-18.

Woolacombe came out in the final quarter all guns blazing refusing not to be beaten and putting piles of pressure on the Jets new defence of Kirsty Dawe and Kelly Swatton. The steely grit and determination of the squad throughout the season was once again on show by the defensive pairing and this went throughout the rest of the team to grind out another wining performance.

The final score of 38-34 in favour of the Bude Jets meant they were victorious in their quest for the title and are now Division Two Champions! Special thanks to debutant Beth Wilde (aged 15) who played extremely well in goal defence.

Player of the Match was awarded to Kirsty Dawe.
