A PROJECT is underway, which could shed light on the future of the Bakers Arms in Launceston.

Town councillors at their meeting on October 18 asked Liberal Democrat Cornwall Councillor for Launceston Central Gemma Massey if there was any news on the Southgate Street pub — formerly the King’s Arms, which is currently closed.

Cllr Massey said she and fellow Launceston Liberal Democrat Cornwall Councillor Jade Farrington were ‘in the process of looking at the Bakers Arms’.

Cllr Massey added: “We are working on a project, in the early stages, about some mis-used and under-used buildings in the town that we feel if used, could change the look, feel and flow of the town.”
