LAUNCESTON’s Kevin Wadland has been recognised by Hospital Radio Plymouth at its HRP Internal awards recently.
Kevin, who’s been recording interviews for over 32 years, was announced as the joint-winner of the Winnie Putt Memorial Award for speech programmes alongside the Plymouth Argyle commentators. He also won it in 2015.
Reflecting on his achievement, which was for members who have given a little extra, Kevin said: “I didn’t know that I was in for the award. I do the interviews to let people know what’s going on so people in hospital don’t miss out on things of interest in Cornwall and Devon and online.”
Among the people he’s talked to and locations and topics he’s discussed around the South West are Poldark Mine, the mayor of Helston, local issues in Helston, Cornish gigs, the Highwire Love lifeboat and the Titanic exhibition at the National Maritime Museum.
Other events covered include the Royal Cornwall Show, Launceston Show, Launceston Carnival, Callington Honey Fair and Goosey Fair while he’s also spoken to the likes of Tony Beard, Raymond Shaddick, Mrs Rosewarne and the chief warden of the Tower of London.
