CALLINGTON Tesco has presented £2,000 from the ‘Bags of Help’ scheme towards an upcoming community production.
Carrie-ann Bailey, the store’s community champion, attended a rehearsal of the World War One community production, ‘And Some Came Home’ to present Callington Town Band secretary, Shirley Morse, with the cheque that had been awarded to help finance the production after coming second in a recent round of in-store voting by customers.
The money is raised by the sale of carrier bags in store, and administered by the charity Groundwork.
Members of the cast gathered around for a photo in bright, evening sunshine, before continuing with their rehearsal. The production features songs of the period and words that were spoken by the men and women who took part in the conflict.
It will be performed in Callington Town Hall on October 26 and 27 and admission will be free. However, tickets will be needed and will be available from the town hall from mid-October.
