CAMELFORD and Advent 1914-1918, with help from a grant awarded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, has announced that all their research has culminated in the production of a public presentation.

To mark the centenary of the First World War the presentation will show the heroes from Camelford and Advent who went to fight in the war and returned. It will also show the names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

A slide show giving a glimpse into the period will be shown alongside a recording of a local man’s recollection of military life from joining up to his return to hospital when wounded.

There will also be old newspaper articles which show various events that went on in the area at the time of the war.

Camelford and Advent 1914-1918 already have items from the war on loan but would like to have more, and have asked if anyone has any to contact them.

The presentation will be held for five weeks from Monday, August 17 until Friday, September 18, in the Riverside Rooms, Market Place, Camelford. Opening times are from 10am to 4pm except on August 17 when only invited guests will be at the opening ceremony. It will be open to the public from 2pm.

Entry is free to the presentation, with everyone welcome to go along and find a Great War hero of their own.

There will also be fun items and a prize quiz for the junior visitors to enjoy.
