THE Holsworthy detachment of Devon Army Cadet Force (ACF) has held a special presentation event to celebrate both team and individual achievements.
Guests included local dignitaries and former detachment commanders, former cadet NCOs and also parents of serving cadets.
The guests were treated to demonstrations of cadet training including drill, skill at arms and first aid — and actively encouraged to join in!
Individual presentations were awarded by Captain Philip Clarke second in command of the ACF in North Devon — himself a former Holsworthy detachment commander.
Staff Serjeant Peter Parker Brock was awarded the National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) ‘Bronze Navigation Award’.
Cadet Izzy May received her certificate for competing in the national level ‘cross-country’.
Cpl Zac Loader and LCpls Sam Williams, Kieran Fraser and Kelly Davies received ‘Activity First Aid’ awards.
Cadet Serjeant Jock Heal got his ‘Senior Cadet Instructor Cadre’ (SCIC) badge following a weeklong instructors course.
Cadet Serjeant Ella Hughes gained her ‘Light Support Weapon’ pass badge, SCIC badge and Senior 4 Star badge.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 10th consecutive ‘Above Standard Annual Inspection Report’ given by Captain Clarke to Detachment Commander 2Lt Jim Harvey.
This award is the highest any ACF detachment can receive following an annual inspection and reflects the quality of the value of training on offer to cadets.
Holsworthy ACF is open to young people from 12 years of age and is now recruiting. For more information search Facebook ‘Holsworthy ACF’ or contact detachment commander 2Lt Jim Harvey 07812495229.
