THE application to build a 67-bedroom Premier Inn hotel in Bude has been approved with conditions, replacing the Strand Hotel which is currently in the final stages of demolition.

Bude town mayor, Cllr Lea Deely, told the Post: “I am delighted that Premier Inn is coming to Bude. I think this will improve the town’s economy by providing additional year-round jobs and attendant service jobs for local tradesmen and businesses.

“I am sure it will not prove detrimental to the excellent hotels and bed and breakfast providers in the area, but might draw in additional business since it could make Bude a highly desirable place to hold conferences. It could also bring additional visitors on packaged coach trips, which will benefit the local economy.”
