A YOUTH council has been praised for its 'professionalism' and involvement with key projects in the area.
Holsworthy Youth Council was formed last May, backed by a grant from district and county councillor, Barry Parsons.
The concept of a youth council in the Holsworthy area was that of Vicky Shearman from Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council, who later gained the support of Holsworthy Town Council and Pyworthy Parish Council.
It was hoped by forming a youth council this would nurture potential members for the tri-council — Pyworthy, Holsworthy Hamlets and town councils.
From setting up and running their own Christmas market stall, to being heavily involved in the regeneration of the Stanhope Park play area, the youth councillors' input has not gone unnoticed in the town.
Youth council clerk Lisa Bowman said: "It is encouraging and uplifting that they have been very enthusiastic throughout and, so far, everything they have been involved in they have approached very professionally."
