POUGHILL Tea Dance is appealing for new members to join its club.
Held on every Thursday afternoon from 2pm onwards in the village hall, dancers get the chance to showcase their sequence and ballroom skills as each week over 25 dances are performed including waltzes, tangos, mambos and line dances.
At present there is a membership of just over 20 but the group would like that to increase further with men especially being encouraged to come along.
Group organiser, Alan Fulford, says that there is something for everyone.
Alan said: “We’re a really friendly and lively group who just love dancing. No-one cares if you can’t dance or if you have two left feet. We can always teach you and even if you don’t want to dance then you can come along and socialise and enjoy a great afternoon out with plenty of laughs.
“We have about 22 members which is a lot better than we were a while ago when our membership went down due to illness or bereavement and we want it to keep going. Some of our newer members have got their own friends involved and the club is starting to grow again.
“However we could do with a few more men to even things up but it’s a great club where everyone just wants to enjoy themselves.”
As well as the dancing, there are tea and biscuits available and the chance for a good chat afterwards.
The afternoon costs just £2.50 per person and all are encouraged to come along and give dancing a go.
