The fund to raise a total of £2,000 towards the refurbishment of the organ at St Olaf's Church, Poughill was given a flying start on Saturday, June 13 by the Bude Concert Orchestra Chamber Ensemble led by Teresa Moule and directed by conductor Barry Carrington Moule.
With soloist Mike Richardson at the keyboard the ensemble produced a delightful concert of music from the 17th and 18th Centuries including Haydn's Organ Concerto in C, Baroque Suite by Jeremiah Clarke and Kuhlau's Sonatina in C for Harpsichord.
Trumpeters Marcus Nichols from Crackington and Emma Moss from Kilkhampton also joined the ensemble. Trumpets are essential elements of any Baroque Concert and it was Emma's debut with the orchestra. Following the music came some very impressive refreshments which rounded off the evening very nicely, all in all a very successful evening.
The BCO Chamber Ensemble will be in concert jointly with The Lyric Singers in an evening of light music with supper at St Martin's Church, Killerton Rd, Bude on Friday, July 10 to raise funds for the church and orchestra.
