EDF Energy Renewables has announced plans to investigate the potential for a new wind farm to be established on land near Chapmans Well, Devon.
The proposed Hollow Panson wind farm site is east of the A388, between Launceston and Holsworthy and within the planning authority of Torridge District Council.
The company is to carry out further work on the potential for a maximum of seven turbines to be located on a site that comprises a mixture of agricultural land and woodland.
The proposal, incorporating 2MW turbines, with a hub height of 80m and total height to turbine tip of 126.5m‚ would be capable of producing up to 14MW of clean energy — enough to supply the annual domestic electricity requirements of approximately 7,300 homes and save approximately 14,765 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
EDF Energy Renewables will be submitting an initial project scoping document to Torridge District Council as the start of the process to formally agree the content of any future planning application.
This scoping report will outline the technical details of the proposed wind farm and the likely environmental effects to be addressed by a comprehensive environmental impact assessment, which will accompany any planning application.
