Kilkhampton Post Office has taken over the management of Bridgerule and Morwenstow Post Offices. Initially Post Office Ltd wanted to replace the branches at Morwenstow and Bridgerule with outreach van services for a few hours a week. However, under this new partnership, which began on Friday, the villages have retained their post office services and village shops. Ian Croxton from Kilkhampton Post Office said the two villages were offering a "slightly revised service", however "most things are as was." The same staff are working at the post offices and the opening times have only been slightly altered. He said: "It is very similar to what it was. The opening times are far in excess of the two or three hours which were initially offered with a van. It's of great benefit to the village community and the shops themselves." The reaction from residents had been positive Ian said. He added: "When I've been out there a couple of people have been a bit confused but once I've explained they seem happy that they're going to maintain a permanent post office presence in the villages. They're not losing a lifeline so to speak."
