FLOWERS in Bloom, the theme for May’s photography competition, held monthly by the Post, has seen a wide variety of colourful flowers and floral scenes thanks to the area’s budding photographers.

With spring ending and flowers coming into bloom, scattering an abundance of colour across the countryside and in our own gardens, the Post has been pleased to give recognition to a number of photographs entered into the competition throughout May.

First, we recognised Polyphant’s Grace Foulds’ beautiful photo of a bluebell wood near Trewen. Next came another bluebell photo from North Tamerton’s Sajla Armstrong with ‘Blue and white bluebells in harmony’, followed by two pink-themed entries from Margaret Peters of Whitstone with ‘Osteospermum’, and Paula Stagg from Kennards House, near Launceston, with ‘Pink daisies in the garden’ — both taken at home.

However, for May we are pleased to announce that the winning photograph of the month goes to Neve Morris from Camelford, with her gorgeous photo, titled ‘Sweet nectar’, of an adorable butterfly resting on a pretty lilac and pink bloom.

Congratulations to Neve, whose photo will be used as the May month for our 2020 calendar and has been shared to all of our social media accounts.

For June’s theme, we are looking for the very best snaps of buildings and architecture across Cornwall and Devon. ‘Iconic Buildings’ is the title of June’s theme and we would love readers to send photos of buildings across the local area. It could be a building of historical significance in your town or village, an old ruin in the middle of nowhere, an iconic engine house or something that really epitomises the local area and shows what it’s all about!

Entries should be sent to [email protected] or via Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. For those entering the competition through Instagram, make sure you follow us, @thepostseries, and tag us in your photo. All entries should have a title and a small description about the photo and the photographer should follow.

A different entry we really admire will be uploaded to our social media pages each Friday to give different people recognition for their entries, with an overall winner of the month to be announced at the end of June. The winning photo will be featured as the June month of our end of year calendar, and all photos given recognition during June will be featured in a round-up article in the Post at the beginning of July.

Best of luck!
