A Cornish Doctors surgery which issued a ‘black alert’ earlier this week has announced it has reduced its warning level to ‘amber’.
Port Isaac Surgery had announced on Wednesday, January 4, that it was only able to respond to emergencies due to an extremely high level of staff sickness. The black alert led to the surgery announcing a series of short-term measures to manage the situation, including only answering enquiries by telephone and informing patients that dispensary and nursing services were limited.
However, as of today (January 6), the surgery has announced an improvement in their situation, leading to a downgrade of the black warning to amber. Despite the change in status leading to the reintroduction of using their ‘Klinik’ online system for requesting appointments, the surgery has informed patients that they are still experiencing unprecedented demand for all services, particularly for clinical and dispensary requests.
In the latest update on their Facebook page, Terri Clare, the Practice Business Manager of Port Isaac Surgery said: “We have reverted to AMBER status, we are still experiencing unprecedented demand in all areas particularly dispensing and clinical.
“Please submit your clinical queries via our KLINIK triage on the website this goes to our clinical triager who will assess and direct your query to the most suitable clinician.
“Please note if your query is routine you may have to wait a few working days for a clinician to contact you.
“Thank you for your patience.”
