AS PART of the Holsworthy Town Council’s ‘Holsworthy World War One 100 years — to the Memory of the Fallen and the Future of the Living’ project, the town’s museum will be holding a workshop for those who want to get creatively involved.
Holsworthy Museum volunteers will be holding a ‘poppy workshop’ and if the weather is good there will be a table at the rear of the museum in the courtyard by the Barbara Pearson statue between 11am and 2pm on St Peter’s Fair day, Wednesday, July 11, and all are welcome to join to help create poppies.
A spokesperson for the museum said: “We have pebbles to paint, poppy silhouettes to decorate which will then be made in to a collage which will be displayed at the museum.
“We have had lots of knitted poppies handed in for which we are really grateful — these will also form part of our display later in the year.
“Our historian Shawn Dymond has produced labels with the names and photographs of the fallen soldiers taken from the War Memorial which will provide a museum trail around the museum for children and adults, a bit of fun whilst learning about those who gave their lives for our freedom.”
The museums will also welcome ‘Moon Hare’, based on Bodmin Street, to help create a mosaic remembrance plaque to honour the 39 who died from Holsworthy. Visitors will also be able to help assemble it on the day.
