A TEN foot high granite poppy, to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of World War One, has been officially unveiled at Valley Truckle, Camelford.
Project leader Vaughan Williams said the unveiling, on Sunday, went 'absolutely splendidly' and was the culmination of several months of 'a lot of hard work for a lot of people'.
The project was a community one — the stone came from DeLank quarry and the carving was undertaken by a local craftsman — and the idea came from the abundance of granite at Roughtor, near to where Mr Williams lives.
