THE Launceston branch of the Royal British Legion invited members and Poppy Appeal collectors for afternoon tea and cake as a thank you for their support with this year’s appeal recently.
RBL county chairman Steve Lewis, and RBL Cornwall county fundraiser Annie Binding, presented long service awards to Mrs Edna Evely (for 70 years as a collector), Mrs Rosemary Evely (30 years), and Mrs Carole Lee (16 years).
Keith and Ian Henry were thanked for their efforts in collecting jointly over £2,000 for this year’s appeal.
Poppy Appeal organiser Ann Gynn was also presented with a special poppy brooch in recognition of her efforts in organising the appeal in Launceston and its district, which includes 17 primary schools, two secondary schools and the villages within a ten mile radius of the town.
