The Bude and Stratton branch of the Royal British Legion were invited to the main Bude Post Office at Belle Vue by Head Postmaster Luke Francis and his wife Julie to hold a coffee morning in aid of this year's Poppy Appeal. Luke, Julie and other members of staff laid on home made biscuits, coffee and tea for those attending and using the well supported services provided by them at the Post Office. Members of the RBL Branch attended to promote this year's appeal. Over 100 people attended the event and they were served refreshments by the counter clerks and Luke's nan, Mrs Anne Tape. A raffle was held with donated prizes and this raised £68.00 for the appeal, along with many other donations made in the collection boxes, which were full to the brim. Over £300 was raised. Luke said: "It was a busy morning. Thanks to all the Bude Royal British Legion and Women's Section for their assistance and to everybody that supported the event." A spokesman for the Bude and Stratton RBL said: "We again thank all involved and look forward to the continued support given to the Poppy Appeal."
