THE bad weather on Saturday evening certainly did not deter the crowd gathering to watch the Camelford Carnival.
The streets were packed and it turned out to be a wonderful night with a great atmosphere — families out together, enjoying the evening. The floats were superb, with an outstanding effort made by all who took part. Kings and queens travelled as far as Brea, Sticker and St Dennis, and it all added up to a great evening’s entertainment. The rain managed to hold off, so the wish for a dry evening was just what everyone received!
Camelford certainly has a great community spirit — everyone got in the carnival spirit and collection buckets and tins will show just how generous the Camelford people really are, with all raised money going to the Camelford Rugby Club and the First Responders.
Marney Baker, carnival secretary, said: “It’s been a lot of hard work, but to see the enjoyment on the people’s faces on the evening made it all worthwhile and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part or helped in any way, along with the local towns and villages coming along to give their very much valued support.”
