POLYPHANT Methodist Church organist, Pam Harris, was recognised for 50 years’ service in the role on Sunday, August 11.

Pam, who first went to Sunday School in the village at the age of three in 1948, was given a special certificate by Rev Joanna Smart.

Pam told the Post: “I started playing in the Sunday school where the preacher would choose a hymn for the Sunday school. I did that for several years and when the older ones passed on I took the role on and I haven’t stopped since. I love it so much so it was never a problem for me. It’s about giving them enjoyment and doing something you’ve loved all your life. What is there better than serving the Lord?”

Pam has no plans of giving up any time soon.

She said: “As long as my health continues I’d love to keep doing it for the Lord’s service.”
