IT’S the day of the General Election and people from across the Post area have been turning out to their local polling stations to cast their votes.

In North Cornwall, candidates hoping for your vote include Scott Mann (Conservative), Danny Chambers (Liberal Democrats), Joy Bassett (Labour), Elmars Liepins (The Liberal Party).

Candidates in West Devon and Torridge include Geoffrey Cox (Conservative), Siobhan Strode (Labour), David Chalmers (Liberal Democrats), Chris Jordan (Green Party) and Bob Wootton (Independent).

Candidates standing in South East Cornwall include Sherryl Murray (Conservative), Gareth Derrick (Labour), Martha Green (Green Party), Jay Latham (The Liberal Party) and Colin Martin (Liberal Democrats).

Polling stations will be open until 10pm this evening, with the first results expected around 2am on Friday morning.

You do not need to bring your polling card or any ID to cast your vote.
