After once again retaining the North Cornwall seat in the most recent General Election, MP Scott Mann (Conservative) took time to speak to the Post about what he hopes to implement across the constituency.

Initially, he explained that a lot of his campaign and his future initiatives stem from national issues that cause a local problem.

He said: “A lot of people have spoken to me about the issues. Financial systems not giving the same application down here.

“I will be campaigning for fairness running straight through, things like education and health care.”

Specifically, Mr Mann spoke about supporting the Camelford bypass, Okehampton rail network and a new Bodmin general hospital.

He continued: “We will hope to create a new urgent treatment centre in Bodmin. I am going to be looking at our local fishing industry as well and what’s landed to end up in our local restaurants.

“Also looking what our businesses can export around the world following Brexit and having our own independent custom. I would also like to encourage the support of smaller businesses in the area.”

Mr Mann is also interested at how Britain might be turning into a ‘digital economy’. “I was honoured to be asked to write in a book ‘Britain Beyond Brexit’, explaining how we are moving from a transport economy to a digital one,” said Mr Mann.

“Through mobile and broadband, hopefully we will be able to create a country that has the same level of connection anywhere, from London or Bude.”

With Mr Mann winning the North Cornwall constituency with over 50% of the votes, he was grateful for all the support and intends to repay that in Westminster.

He added: “I am very happy to be once again representing the area. I must pay tribute to all the other candidates that stood in the election as it is a really brave thing to do.

“People responded positivity to our message as a party, both nationally and locally.

“I am really looking forward to being back and representing those who chose me to represent them.”
