CLAIRE Hewlett of Camelford has resigned from the Green Party and has announced her role as an Independent campaigner for North Cornwall.
The announcement came last Friday as Mrs Hewlett, also mayor, town councillor and chair of the network panel for Camelford, said she would ‘continue to campaign for a more sustainable society’.
She will now be standing in future elections as an Independent candidate.
Mrs Hewlett told the Post: “I resigned with the heaviest of hearts after much thought. I’m really sad about it, but I have to be true to myself. I’ve agreed to make no further comment on my reasons for resigning and I will honour that request.”
