BUDE police visited Stratton Primary School last week where they gave a talk on the role of PCSOs, neighbourhood policing, and even the role of a firefighter and the fire service.

A spokesperson for Bude Police wrote on their Facebook page: “Brilliant afternoon with the students of Stratton Primary School, some future colleagues amongst them I think! Great fun and hopefully some good useful knowledge gained!

“Remember to stop an Officer and say hello, we’re a friendly bunch!”

Merryn Harris and Leah Pethick, reception teachers at Stratton Primary School, said: “Gary Langan talked to the children about his role in the police and also in the fire service.

“The children enjoyed looking at his uniform and hearing about his roles and how he helps our community.

“The children particularly enjoyed sitting in the police van and turning on the lights and the siren.

“As part of our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic, the Reception class have also visited Penbode veterinary surgery and had a visit from a paramedic.”
