POLICE are keen to trace the owners of a number of distinctive watches recovered as part of an investigation.
Approximately 20 were seized in Torquay on April 9 and may have come from properties across south Devon. Among the makes were Seconda, Timex and Rotary.
Officers also seized a Rone watch guarantee certificate, a Zippo lighter with a Civil War motif, a lighter/cigarette holder featuring a Sovereign of Africa and a Camel lighter in the shape of a packet of cigarettes. The property may belong to a number of people and police have urged the public to get in touch if they recognise any of the descriptions.
Antique traders, jewellers and second hand dealers are asked to alert officers if they are offered similar items for sale. PC Brian Guntrip from Totnes said: 'These items must hold real sentimental value for someone and we hope the owners will come forward. It would be a great shame if these items are kept in a police store when we are sure someone would love to have them back.'
PC Guntrip can be contacted on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference CR/23853/15.
A 32-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man from Rotherham have been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. They have been bailed until May 7.
