POLICE are asking parents of primary school children to be wary of where they park to drop off and pick up their children.

Launceston Police said over the last month its PCSOs have been attending most of the primary schools in the area looking at the parking issues that dropping off and picking up times produce.

Launceston Police wrote on Facebook: “At every school we have attended we have been told by some of the parents that it’s a shame that we are not able to be there every day as no issues happen when we are there, from the schools I have attended I have only had to move a couple of parents of the zig zag lines and most parents are very careful where they park.”

They asked parents to ‘carry on being aware’ of where they park and ‘to treat every pick up as if a police officer or PCSO is monitoring’.

The spokesperson added: “Also if you have parked across someone’s drive please do not get abusive when you are asked to move so someone can get out of their home, after all is this the sort of thing we want our children to learn.”
