EVERYONE was on their best behaviour at the recent Holsworthy and Stratton Show as the local Holsworthy neighbourhood police team was in attendance.

Offering up fun challenges for children and adults alike, the police were able to inform people on how to stay safe through fun activities such as their driving simulator, a ‘beer goggles’ test and a reaction time game.

PCSO Raquel Rowe said: “We have been really busy here this morning offering the children finger printing exercises that they could take home with them.

“We have had a lot of adults having a go with the beer goggles and trying out our obstacle course whilst wearing them in order to educate them about drunk driving and the changes in your perception and reaction times when you aren’t sober.

“The game we have set up is for people to see the difference between ‘sober’ and ‘drunk’. They first try it out normally to see how fast they can complete it, they then try the same game with the beer goggles on to prove just how much of a difference it makes.

“There has also been a chance for people to try on our gear and to see what it is like in the police cage in our vehicles. Overall I would say people have had a great time and it has personally been a really good day for us.”

There was also the driving simulator, which allows the public to test out their driving, which many may remember from St Peter’s Fair earlier in the year.

PCSO Emma Tomkies said: “Holsworthy Show is a great event for us to attend, it gives us the chance to see a lot of people we would not normally see on a day-to-day basis as well as offer home, business and personal safety advice.

“This year was our busiest year yet, with lots of people using our interactive activities and talking about any Police related issues that they are experiencing. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.”
