A CAR fire in Delabole was tackled in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Firefighters from Delabole were called to the well alight car off a side road on the B3314 at 2am.

Police said no one was inside the vehicle — a grey Ford Focus — which was in a field at Dannon Chapel. Wearing breathing apparatus, the crew used two hose reel jets to extinguish the car.

Police enquiries found that the car had been stolen from outside an address in The Terrace, Port Isaac.It was taken sometime between 5pm on Wednesday, October 4 and 2am on Thursday, October 5.Police are appealing for witnesses to the theft of the vehicle and the subsequent arson attack.
