POLICE in Bude are investigating a series of burglaries which took place in Belle Vue and Queen Street, overnight on Sunday September 18 to Monday September 19.

They would like to hear from anyone who has any CCTV footage not yet disclosed, or who saw anything in the area or who has any information about the thefts.

The properties affected on Queen Street were Age Concern at which a window was damaged and £50 in cash was taken and British Red Cross where the rear door was forced and police said an untidy search was made.

The front door of Barrel Rock Clothing in Belle Vue was forced and after a tidy search the cash float of £130 was stolen along with two pairs of sunglasses, a hoody and four pairs of headphones worth £40 each.

Taste of Cornwall, also in Belle Vue, had its front door forced and the cash contents of the till, charity boxes and the tips jar to the value of £1,100 were stolen. The third property in Belle Vue to be burgled was Four Seasons Florist, where a fan light was removed and £470 cash was stolen along with bank cards.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Lisa Kilcommons said: “It appears that all of these businesses were entered illegally overnight between the end of business on Sunday 18th September and when the owners returned on Monday morning. If you have any information we would very much like to hear from you.

“We would also urge business owners to make sure that no cash is left overnight in their premises, including charity collection tins and tips jars, even if they believe the premises are secure. There is an element of forced entry common to all of these burglaries.”
