THE Holsworthy Neighbourhood Police team was recently asked to assist with a ‘Vehicle Enforcement Day’.
On Wednesday, July 19, the police team assisted the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and HM Revenue and Customs to assess a number of vehicles in Holsworthy to discover if they were ‘roadworthy’.
The results of the enforcement day revealed many were driving on the roads in inadequate vehicles; 77 vehicles were assessed and of those 13 were prohibited for being unroadworthy.
During the day HMRC found three vehicles running illegally on red diesel, which attracted fines of £1,383.
A spokesperson from the Holsworthy team said: “Overall, it was a very productive day for all agencies involved, taking dangerous and illegal vehicles off of the road. We would like to thank all of the members of the public who were involved for their time, as well as Holsworthy Football Club and Magpie/RBL club for the use of their facilities.”
