POLICE are appealing for information after vandals targeted a number of places in Bude with graffiti.
Bude Sea Pool and Summerleaze car park are two of the areas that were damaged by paint. Police are concerned the graffiti appears to be tackling a person in the community and ex-members of the Armed Forces.
A police spokesman said the force was particularly interested in the damage caused at the sea pool and car park: "Bude Police are politely asking for help from members of the public to trace the certain individual/individuals who have been causing damage to property in and around Bude, by writing on various signs with a black marker pen and spraying walls with black paint.
"The Friends of Bude Sea Pool (FoBSP) struggle to maintain Bude's world renowned outdoor swimming pool for everyone to use, and they can ill afford to have an individual graffiti their signs. The cost of replacement diverts money they have raised from members of the public, away for more important matters."
Police told the Post the number of graffiti incidents has increased in the town over the last two weeks with buildings and signs being defaced with 'tags'. Other areas targeted include the Belle Vue area, Belle Vue Lane, Bencoolen Bridge and along the Strand following the weekends.
A police spokesman added: "The person damaging Bude and targeting those that do good need to be stopped.
"Bude Police already have a few clues, however, anyone with any information, however small or unimportant it may seem, is requested to please contact Bude Police, or Crimestoppers, so they can put a stop to this behaviour."
Chairman of the Friends of Bude Sea Pool Paul Tilzey said the graffiti was removed from the sea pool area shortly after the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call 999 or 101 if you have any information or CCTV in these areas.
