The Launceston Policing Team wants to make the public aware of a number of incidents which have been reported to them over recent weeks.
Incident one:
At approximately 3.30pm on Saturday March 13, a young female states she was followed by a man in a black car around the Windmill Hill area of Launceston.
When the female stopped, the occupant wound down the window and asked her to 'get in.
The man is described as 'tanned, dark close-shaved hair, shaved beard wearing dirty jeans, black padded top with orange bits.
Incident two:
Between 11.30am and 12.30pm on Saturday, March 20, a female states that she was in the area of the JobCentre and Nomads, Launceston, when a black vehicle approached her from behind.
The male passenger got out of the vehicle and took hold of the female. She then states she was pushed into the rear of the car and blindfolded. The male got back in the front of the vehicle.
The car was driven around for a short time before the female got out of the car near to the photography shop just short of the traffic lights in the Newport area of Launceston and ran up St Thomas Hill.
The description of the man police want to trace is: a white male 40 years old, grey hair wearing Jeans and a black top.
Incident three:
At 6.45am on Friday March 26, a female states she was approached in the area of the Guildhall /Castle grounds entrance Launceston.
A man approached her and engaged her in conversation asking for directions.
The man then took hold of her arm and asked her to go with him. The female broke free and was grabbed again by the man. The female broke free and then ran towards the town centre.
The man is described as: an Indian male, late thirties early forties of medium build, 5ft 5in to 5ft 6in tall with dark clean gelled hair with a slight floppy curtain at the front that looks like Joey from the TV show 'Friends.' Hair cut clean shaven, with brown eyes and quite heavy bags under eyes.
He was wearing a grey tracksuit but maybe not a complete tracksuit. He had light grey tracksuit bottoms and a darker grey top with a full zip that was done up on rear of jacket. A the top by the neck was either some writing or a logo in a dark colour. He had an Indian accent and his English was poor and broken.
A police spokesman, Sgt Aaron Ward, said: "This type of incident is very unusual for our area and as such causes concerns for all.
"However, the Launceston Policing Team is investigating all matters and would like the assistance of the community in identifying those responsible.
"We are using this report to appeal to those who may have information which may assist us. You are our eyes and ears and in instances such as this it is a time for all to pull together.
"Our Community should be aware of the facts in order that they can make informed decisions.
"We would like to make people aware of the details and appeal for any witnesses or further information no matter how trivial they think it may be."
Officers from the Launceston Policing Team have been tasked to carry out high visibility patrols with a view to stopping suspected persons or vehicles.
It will also provide an opportunity for people to speak with them regarding their concerns and pass on information.
