Abbeyfield House in Burn View, Bude, hosted alternative Christmas entertainment last Saturday for its eight residents and their family and friends. 'Bellylaughs,' hosted by Linda Hull, daughter of Abbeyfield Bude's most senior resident, 97-year-old Edith Smith, is a group of ladies providing singing and comedy surrounding Arabic belly dancing. Linda has been teaching the art of belly dancing to adults in the Devon and Cornwall area for over 10 years, and describes it as "an interesting and fun way to keep fit and active, and an opportunity to learn something new." House manager Donna Gilbert said: "We were looking for a fun and alternative style of festive entertainment. Linda's offer of coming to entertain our residents in this way was perfect. It was much appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone." The afternoon concluded with a seasonal buffet and raffle, the proceeds of which will go towards a future day out for the residents.
