Phoenix Camera Club — At the latter end of 2015 the Cameral Club had a talk by Toby Gibbons — Astroadventures — and if there was any thought of it being simply photographs of the moon and stars, then they were quite wrong. They were treated to amazing photos of the night sky, constellations, planets, comets and star trailing by taking pictures through his telescope.

In January Ian Kevern gave a talk and demonstration on drone photography and they watched a short film showing an aerial view of Torrington with his DJI Phantom Plus, which flew above the mist filled valley, and they and found out how his hobby grew with his enthusiasm. This was a fascinating evening.

The annual presentation dinner was held at Holsworthy Golf Club at the end of January. The Chairman David Patrick presented the Edward Humphries shield for the open category competition and the plaque for gaining the most points in the competitions over the past 12 months to Jane Kearney. Plenty of good food, good company and an after dinner quiz made for an excellent evening.

Following the AGM in February they examined entries from the travelling critique of the WCPF competition, photographs from clubs around the south west.

Coming up for the first half of the year, they have competitions, talks on how to master water drip photography, how to gain qualifications in photography and the history of Glastenbury showcased in pictures, together with photo shoots when weather permits.
