CAMELFORD Town Council has made an exciting announcement about the future of its play area in Enfield Park.
The town council announced recently that it has been successful in a grant application for £35,000 to Great Western Railway for the refurbishment of the Enfield Park play area. It is hoped work will start in the summer and has gone out to tender.
The theme of the refurbishment will honour the North Cornwall railway line, which was closed in 1966 but still remains a huge part of the area’s heritage. It will celebrate the heritage of Camelford Station and educate the younger generation on times past.
The council has now put the project out to tender, and is looking for contractors to carry out the work, which will be in addition to the existing play equipment, which was officially opened to the public on Saturday, April 20.
Following a public consultation, which took place in 2018, it is hoped the contractor will be able to provide an adventure trail, covered seating area, imaginative play equipment aimed at a lower age range and child friendly surfacing.
